TEIN Type Flex Coilover Kit-Miata

Adrenaline Racing has been working fervently with TEIN USA to bring high performance suspension systems to the Miata community. We have intimate knowledge and personal experience with TEIN products, and the Mazda Miata. We provide more Miata owners with TEIN products than any other vendor! Our philosophy is that you're always better off to do it right the first time!
The TEIN Type-Flex system is an outstanding dual purpose suspension setup, recommended for those who want the best for their Miata, and want to have an Auto-X or Road Race worthy suspension without compromising the streetability. The highlights of the TEIN Flex include the inverted shock body design(the ultimate in ride height adjustability), 16-way adjustable damping control, and standard pillowball upper shock mounts.
The threaded shock body is a critically important attribute for vehicles with limited shock travel such as the Miata. Adrenaline Racing recommends the Tein Flex for discerning drivers who require the industry leading technology and performance offered only by high end Japanese suspension tuners. The majority of coilover shock setups have a threaded spring perch which allows for the ride height to be adjusted. For vehicles like the Miata where suspension travel is
critical
to proper performance and comfort, it is frequently detrimental to lower the car as it spends most of its time on the bumpstops. By using the inverted shock design TEIN has devised a coilover setup wherein the shock body itself can be made to change length, thus allowing ride height adjustment with no change in spring pre-load or suspension travel.
Like most members of the TEIN suspension family the Flex has 16-way adjustable shocks to allow for varying stiffness levels. Painstakingly tested and matched spring rates and shock valving allow for a very broad range of adjustment allowing your car to ride at near stock comfort levels or firmer settings for Autocross of Road Race duty. The Flex is more aggressive than the TEIN-HA setup and is directed toward drivers spending a significantly larger amount of time in competition or open lapping. Unlike the TEIN-HA, the TEIN Flex has pillowball upper shock mounts as a standard item, thus giving an additional 1/2" of suspension travel over and above the stock travel. Few coilover systems can compete with the TEIN Flex's ability to create more shock travel than stock even when lowered!
As with all TEIN Suspension systems, the TEIN Flex can be ordered with optional spring rates. The standard rates for the Flex are 7kg/mm front, 6kg/mm rear. TEIN does not recommend going any more than +/-2kg/mm without having the shocks revalved.

Note: If you wish to specify one of the optional spring rates, please enter the desired spring rates in the Comments section of your order. If you have questions regarding optional spring rates, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Unlike some other coilover systems, the TEIN Type-Flex kit comes complete with everything you need, and it comes fully assembled and preset to TEIN’s recommended ride height. Installation is as simple as pulling the coilovers out of the box, and putting them on the car. Every piece has been precisely matched to the other components to form a superbly balanced performance suspension system for your car.
The Type-Flex kit can be disassembled so that shocks can be overhauled and settings can be changed. Unlike many other Japanese manufacturers, TEIN offers factory support for drivers who require this service.
As an additional option for owners of a 1999+ (NB) model Miata, TEIN offers the EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller). A small control unit is placed within the car (about ¼ DIN), which allows you to adjust the damping force from the drivers seat. Up to 3 different settings can be stored, allowing you to recall a different setting for track use, street use, or another driver with the simple press of a button. You can also ‘lock’ the EDFC to prevent misuse by another driver, or accidental adjustments. A must have for the high-tech connoisseur.
