I've had 3 sets of Ultimate Axxis on my 99. I like them. They have higher initial bite (torque) than the stock ones that I had. But it seems to have higher heat resistance than the stock ones. (BTW, I loved the stock ones). I mainly went to Ultimates, because I drive the car on the track quite a bit and wanted to make sure that I don't fade. Also, these do not have the dreaded wet braking problems as the stock pads do (on 99+ Miata's when driving in the rain, the initial brake will not bite for a second or two, due to the rain bad shield design, however these pads do not have the problem). Only downfall of this pads is that it dusts more than the stock ones, but not as bad as other "track" pads. However, they wash off very easily. If you drive very aggresively on the street and do track occasionally, I think these will be a good set. Plus the Ultimates cost about the same or even less than the stock pads.
