Car: 1997 Mazda Miata
Use: Autocross and the odd track day
After owning a set of Axxis Metal Masters (and hating them), I was reluctant to try these Axxis Ultimates. I had become acustom to the Hawk HP+ pads and didn't want to take a step back, but I got a really good deal on the Ultimates, so I just had to try them. Let me just say, I'm not disappointed!
Dust: Compared to the Hawk HP+ there is NO dust from these pads. That said, they do dust a little. I'd say they're twice as dusty as the stock pads on my wife's 2001 Miata and about 1/8 as dusty as my old Hawk pads. Those that call these pads "Dustimates" need to experience the Hawk pads during an autocross season.
Noise: what noise? Never heard a peep out of them.
Grip: Excellent. Initial bite is good. It could be better. It's deceptively soft, because when you get into the pedal, the real stopping power of these pads becomes evident. The pads are very easy to modulate.
Summary: unless a screaming deal on the Cobalt GTs or some other neat new pad lands on my doorstep, I'll order another set of these Ultimates. I really like them. A+!
